Doug's Grill

Today I have been just too busy rewriting my class notes and working on my drawing project for Saturday. There hasn't been time for sketching, so I am cheating here by showing you one of my favorite pastel paintings finished at the end of last year. The subject is obviously a grill full of sausages and hot dogs drawn from a picture taken when our friend, Doug, was cooking them for our home meeting lunch. He had just stacked a pile of them in the corner of the grill to keep them from burning while the others continued cooking.

Welcome to Barbara's Sketch Book and Photo Album!

At last! My own personal place to show off my work and speak my mind. This is like a giant refrigerator for me, where I can paste up my daily sketches. No, they are not great sketches, but to me they are memorable. I'm a student artist. This blogspot will be my incentive to keep working and growing in my fine art skills. My goal is to post daily, or almost daily sketches. Sometimes I may post small format paintings or even larger works. My best work is in pastel portraits, but you won't see many of them here. When I get lazy with sketching, I will probably be out snapping pictures for possible photo reference. I aim for good composition as well as interesting content in my snapshots.
