The end of the trail? Not yet. Look at the second picture. After peaking out around 10,300 ft. elevation on White Mountain, Dan and I turned to descend this stone walkway. What you are seeing is only the top of the loose gravel stairway. The road in the distance is about 200 feet lower in elevation. We had driven a narrow road for about 10 miles to reach Schulman's Grove of Ancient Bristlecone Pines. We then walked the Discovery Trail for a mile, climbing about 200 feet. After we finished, I was glad for the experience, but I was terrified all the way. Take a look at the two trees below to see some of the beauty of these trees that have survived over 3,000 years.
